Awa Ndiaye

Awa Ndiaye is a visual artist from Senegal, who graduated from the National School of Fine Arts of Dakar. She is a pluridisciplinary artist who does painting, mosaic and murals. She knew her biological mother only at the age of 15. Her personal story stronly inspires her work, which deals with topics relative to the importance of maternal love in the building of a person's identity. She also tackles in her work, other subjects, like excision and the violences on women and children. Her mostly figurative paintings consist of geometric shapes arranged with precision. Rigor, seriousness and discipline are values she carries.
